Item tax, extra costs & discounts
Add tax in the first line:
Invoice to Acme with 11% GST exclusive
Set item rates and named extra costs:
2 x Pencil @100 T5% Code[001234] 2 x Paneer @100 T12% Shipping Cost @500 Insurance Charge @300 Installation Cost @350 GST on Shipping Cost @18% Discount @20%
Use a quantity for an item, e.g. 1 x Service @500. A name without a quantity, e.g. Service @500, creates an extra cost. T0% means no item tax. A blank item tax uses the invoice default. “No Tax” removes every tax. Tick Item-wise tax below Tax calculation to show item rates. The Tax Code column appears when enabled or included in your prompt. Discounts reduce items before tax; extra costs are not discounted and are taxed only when you add their tax. Tax names in these examples are editable labels. Add Code[001234] to an item for a product or service code. Click the Code or Tax column heading to rename it, for example HSN/SAC or GST. Each tax cell shows the rate and calculated line tax.

The 11% PPN rate is applied to each item. The app calculates the taxable base (DPP) and total PPN in Indonesian Rupiah (Rp).
Important note on Faktur Pajak: In Indonesia, only VAT-registered businesses (Pengusaha Kena Pajak / PKP) are legally permitted to issue an official Faktur Pajak and charge PPN. Formal tax invoices must be submitted electronically through the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) e-Faktur / Coretax system. If your annual gross turnover is below Rp 4.8 billion and you have not registered as a PKP, you issue a standard commercial invoice (Faktur Komersial) without charging PPN.

Indonesia invoice questions
Do I need to charge PPN on my invoice in Indonesia?
Only if your business is officially registered as a Taxable Entrepreneur (Pengusaha Kena Pajak / PKP) with the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP). Sole proprietors, freelancers, and small enterprises with annual gross turnover under Rp 4.8 billion are classified as non-PKP and generally exempt from charging PPN. If you are not a PKP, select "No Tax" to issue a clean commercial invoice.
What is the standard PPN rate in Indonesia?
Under the Tax Harmonization Law (UU Harmonisasi Peraturan Perpajakan / UU HPP No. 7/2021) and Minister of Finance Regulation PMK No. 131/2024, the statutory rate is 12% with an effective rate of 11% for standard goods and services (calculated using an adjusted tax base / DPP Nilai Lain of 11/12). You can use the default 11% or adjust the rate to match your specific tax determination.
What is the difference between NPWP and NIK on invoices?
Under Indonesia's Coretax tax administration system, resident individuals use their 16-digit National Identity Number (NIK) from their KTP as their tax identification number. Corporate entities use a 16-digit NPWP (formed by prefixing "0" to their legacy 15-digit NPWP). When invoicing individual Indonesian clients who do not hold a corporate NPWP, you can enter their 16-digit NIK.
Does this PDF invoice replace DJP e-Faktur?
No. This tool generates commercial sales invoices (Faktur Penjualan / Tagihan) in PDF format. If you are a PKP, Indonesian tax regulations require you to report the transaction electronically and obtain an official Faktur Pajak with a verification QR code through the DJP e-Faktur / Coretax portal. You can provide this commercial invoice to your client alongside your official e-Faktur.
Can I issue an invoice in foreign currency like USD or SGD?
Under Bank Indonesia Currency Law (UU Mata Uang No. 7/2011), all transactions conducted within the territory of Indonesia must be settled in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). If you are providing services to an international client outside Indonesia, you can switch to InvoiceMove's Global invoice generator to bill in USD, EUR, SGD, or any other foreign currency.
